Our power plants will compete economically with conventional fossil fuels and provide clean, renewable energy powered by the biggest energy source in the Solar System—the Sun.

Compensation
Saving the world is its own reward, but we also know it doesn't pay the rent. So, we offer competitive salaries and benefits, stock options, and cash bonuses. Please note that we may not have espresso machines in the staff kitchen (yet) or provide dry cleaning services, but we do offer something far more compelling: the priceless opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a developing technology and work in an engineering paradise.

Cool Earth Solar is located in Livermore, California—the easternmost city of the San Francisco Bay Area. A technological hub for the region, Livermore is home to two Department of Energy national laboratories: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories/California. Besides being the oldest wine region of California, Livermore boasts miles of biking and hiking trails, as well as a vibrant cultural arts community. We hire engineers at all levels. Principal engineers should have exceptional expertise and experience in two or more of the following fields: machine design, electronics, mechanics, polymer applied science, optics, mass production, heat transfer, and/or solar cells. Senior, level 1, and level 2 engineers should be "best in class" types in at least one of the above fields. Whatever the level, applicants must be practical, creative, hands-on, hardware-loving engineers who are resourceful and tenacious. Most of our engineers have applicable degrees (master's degrees and above are usual for principal engineers), but there are no fixed requirements. Experience counts for a lot.
